EXTRA CURRICULAR ACTIVITIES

National Cadet Corps (N.C.C)
An N.C.C. Unit of Senior Division Army wing is functioning in the Institution. It functions with a view to develop leadership qualities, commandership, spirit of sportsmanship and the ideal of service among the students.

National Service Scheme (N.S.S)
The N.S.S. Unit of the Institution functions with a view to develop social activities in student life by way of rendering all sorts of service to the downtrodden people living in rural areas and organize voluntary blood donation camps. 

Physical Education
Our Institute provides ample of scope and facilities for the students for active participation in sports and games. Play ground with all facilities is available for the students.

Other Activities
1. Canada-India Institutional Co-Operation Project
The Canada India Institutional Cooperation Project (CIICP) is a major Human Resource Development Project launched during the year 1991 through a Memorandum of Understanding signed between the Govt. of Canada and the Govt. of India. The main objective of the Project is to train the staff of the Polytechnic Colleges to improve the quality and enhance the quantum of the human resource potential and to achieve development in Polytechnic Education System.
           Various job oriented, need-based training programs are offered to the students and public by the CIICP under Continuing Education.

2. Community Development Through Polytechnics Scheme
The polytechnic renders useful services in surrounding villages by conducting various non-formal education and skill training programmes. It has technicians and craftsmen whose services are utilized for imparting skill training and adoption of appropriate technologies. The services are now established in 9 extension centres in and around Chidambaram. In this scheme, 1125 candidates have been trained so far in various type of Skill Development Programmes and certificates were issued. 

3. Red Ribbon Club
To educate youth with correct, concise and adequate information and heighten their level of awareness about HIV/AIDS/STI/sexuality and other related issues (thus eliminate myths and misconceptions) especially the female students, to identify and understand situations of exploitation and abuse.
Increase youths’ access to health care services related to STI / HIV/AIDS/drug use.
Create linkages between youth and governmental, non - governmental agencies and CBOs to access safer and responsible healthy behavior.
Create among the youth a cadre of peer educators for seeking and encouraging positive health behavior as well as ensuring sustainability of the club.
